2nd Fort Mill School Gets Blue Ribbon Status – Way to go Fort Mill Middle!

FORT MILL, SC (CN2 NEWS) – Fort Mill Middle School named by the National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence organization as a 2023 Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School. It’s the 2nd school in the district to get the distinction. Gold Hill Middle School was honored earlier this month.

The Lighthouse School distinction comes after extensive surveys and a two-day site visit, where classrooms were observed and students, parents and teachers were interviewed.

They focus on things like: Student Focus and Support, School Organization and Culture, Challenging Standards and Curriculum, Active Teaching and Learning, Technology Integration, Professional Community, Leadership and Educational Vitality, School, Family, and Community Partnerships and Indicators of Success.

The Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School designation lasts for five years. The award will be presented to Fort Mill Middle School during the Blue Ribbon Schools Conference in Orlando, Florida at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at the Awards Luncheon on Friday, December 1.

Principal Emily McQuay says,  “We are excited that Fort Mill Middle School has been recognized as a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School. I am thrilled to have our school’s teachers and staff recognized for their hard work and their consistent commitment to the success of our students.”
