Train Derails Near Homes

More than 15 cars derailing in Fort Mill just as the strawberry festival was getting underway – and tonight most of those cars still on the side of the track. It turned out, the accident that happened Friday night was basically in the middle of the Anne springs close Greenway so traffic was not particularly affected – except for people who live on nearby maple street.
Norfolk southern leading the investigation, the Greenway says at this point it just has to let them clean up, but add it will likely take many weeks before the area is restored. We’ve learned most cars were carrying soy beans, other food, paper and fertilizer – but nothing leaked and no injuries were reported.
