Piedmont EMS Hiring as Busy Year is on Horizon

ROCK HILL, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) – First responders with Piedmont Medical Center EMS responded to more than 37,000 calls in 2022 and they expect to be just as busy, if not busier in the 2023.

With a growing community and the healthcare field changing so much since the COVID pandemic, the EMS Director, Eric Morrison says unfortunately more and more people are leaving the industry and those in the community seem to be more sick.

“Ideally we are running 13 ambulances in the day time and 11 at night”, says Morrison.

With the added stress, Morrison says it can be a challenge to keep staff. That’s why they are working hard to to keep those they have and hire more by working with community colleges and offering sign-on bonuses for full time employees.
