New Superintendent of Lancaster County Schools plans to bring transparency to the district

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) – The new Lancaster County School District Superintendent says he’s ready to get to Lancaster and get to work.

The district recently announced the position is being filled by Dr. Raashad Fitzpatrick who is currently in Greenville, South Carolina, acting as the assistant to the Superintendent for Greenville County Schools.

Dr. Fitzpatrick says he’s excited to take on the position after current superintendent Dr. Jonathan Phipps retires in 2024.

Dr. Fitzpatrick says as a father with children in school, he understands the importance of district transparency, and he already has plans to bring clear communication to Lancaster Schools.

“I talk with parents all day everyday, and visit schools all day everyday. That’s one thing I plan to bring to the County is you’re going to see me out in the community,” Dr. Fitzpatrick said. “You’re going to see me out in the schools, you’re going to see me asking parents for input, and you’re going to see me sharing information with parents, and I think that is the key to building a great trusting relationship between the school and the community.”

The new superintendent has experience in all parts of the school system, and even worked as a social studies teacher, assistant coach, and principal. He believes this experience will give him an advantage in understanding the needs of Lancaster’s many schools.

Dr. Fitzpatrick will officially begin his role as superintendent starting in January 2024.
