Lancaster County Deputies Investigate Shooting Death of 53 Year Old

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department says a man was shot to death on John Street Wednesday evening.

According to officials, deputies where called to 1704 John Street in Lancaster for a shooting death. When deputies arrived they found a 53 year old victim in an outbuilding on his property with gunshot wounds. The Lancaster County Coroner has identified the victim as Gene White of Lancaster.

Two women were helping White and a deputy also provided aid. White died at the scene.

After investigating, deputies say they learned two men drove to the home, and one of them got out and met White in the outbuilding. Witnesses heard gunshots.

According to the report, the man came of the building with a handgun, got back into the car and left the area.

The motive is unknown at this time.

          “We have not yet made an arrest in this case, but investigators are pursuing a lot of very helpful information provided by witnesses,” said Sheriff Barry Faile.  “We hope to have these two men and the car identified very soon.  We will then seek warrants for the appropriate charges and make an arrest or arrests.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this victim.”
