Woman and Child Held Hostage in Chester

CHESTER, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) – The Chester County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a Chester man after they say he attacked the mother of his child with a hammer and held her hostage, along with their one-year-old child at a home on Douglas Road in Great Falls.

The Chester County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the home on January 9th and say they learned the victim and her child, had been held hostage since January 7th by the baby’s father, Burton Mincey, Jr.

Chester County says with guidance from law enforcement, the victim was able to escape the home with the child. Officials say that Burton Mincey, Jr. was transported to the Chester County Detention Center and charged with Kidnapping, Domestic Violence High and Aggravated. This incident is under investigation, additional charges may be forthcoming.
