LANCASTER, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) The funeral of Sheriff’s Deputy James Kirk was held at the Second Baptist Church Monday afternoon. Deputy Kirk was just 57-years-old when he collapsed at a training event last week. He died shortly after at Springs Memorial Hospital from a medical condition.
Deputy James loved his job — he worked for Lancaster police for 25 years, and then for the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office since 2015. But he particularly loved working with the youth. Deputy James was a school resource officer and a Drug Abuse Resistance (D.A.R.E.) officer.
The Lancaster native graduated from Lancaster High School in 1978. He leaved behind his wife, Traci, and their four children.
