SLED Investigates Its 46th Officer Involved Shooting in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA (CN2 NEWS) The State Law Enforcement Division is in the Tri-county investigating its 46th officer involved shooting in South Carolina.

So far this year, South Carolina has already surpassed the 2019 total of 45 officer involved shootings.

The 46th shooting took place over the weekend in Chester. This marks Chester County’s first officer involved shooting this year.

According to reports, shots were fired during a confrontation between a man and deputies from the Sheriff’s Office.

No one was shot and there are no injuries.

Deputies say they were responding to a 9-1-1 Call on High Tower Road in Fort Lawn when the suspect went inside their house and a standoff began.

Investigators did resolved the situation. Gerald Williams Junior was arrested and faces charges of Resisting Arrest with a Deadly Weapon, Domestic Violence as well as other charges.

SLED conducts law enforcement officer involved shootings as a part of its protocol.
