School Closings Due To Potential High Winds, Heavy Rains

ROCK HILL, S.C. — With the possibility of inclement weather – high winds and heavy rains in the forecast in the afternoon – several schools districts, universities and businesses in our viewing area are cancelling classes.

These weather conditions could cause unsafe travel conditions for buses and cars.

Below is the list of school districts and schedules for Thursday, Feb. 6.

Fort Mill:

Half-day dismissal times:

Elementary School 11:00 a.m.

Middle School 11:35 a.m.

High School 12:10 p.m.

All after school activities, programs and athletic events are also canceled. Buses will provide transportation at the stated dismissal times for regular bus riders. Drivers are encouraged to use caution on roadways and around school areas today.

Lancaster:

Schools will dismiss early and there will be no after school activities. Offices will also close early.

All elementary schools will dismiss at 10:30 a.m. – lunch will not be served

All middle schools will dismiss at 11:15 a.m. – lunch will not be served

Andrew Jackson, Buford and Lancaster High will dismiss at 11:35 a.m. – lunch will not be served

Indian Land High will dismiss at 12 noon. – lunch will not be served

All offices will dismiss at 1:30 p.m.

Chester:

All Chester County Schools and Offices to Close Early Thursday February 6, 2020.

Dismissal times- Lunch will be served
Elementary-11:30
Middle – 12:15
High 12:30

No after school activities.

Rock Hill:

Elementary Schools at 11:30

Middle Schools at 11:45

High Schools at 12 p.m.

Afternoon 4-year-old kindergarten at Central and ATC is cancelled. All after school activities including athletics and Challenger are also cancelled. We ask parents to pick up students from Challenger as soon as possible.

York

All elementary schools and York Immediate: 11 AM

York Middle, York Comprehensive, and York One Academy: 12:15 PM

All after school activities are cancelled.

West Minster Catawba Christian School:

WCCS will be closing at 12:00 noon today due to the predicted inclement weather arriving this afternoon around normal dismissal times.

or parents who can not arrive at noon, care will be provided until each child is picked up. All after school activities and athletics are also cancelled.

Clinton College

Closing at 1 p.m.

All classes are cancelled and administrative offices will close.

All YMCA branches

All YMCA locations are closed until further notice.
