Rock Hill Police Investigate Homicide, Suspect in Custody

ROCK HILL, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) Rock Hill Police are investigating a Homicide after a 25 year old male was fatally shot.

Rock Hill Police Public Information Officer, Lt. Michael Chavis says officers responded to Ligon Drive this morning just a little after 5:30 after receiving a call for a shooting with a victim.

When officers arrived to the location identified by the caller they located the victim near the roadway who was fatally shot.

Chavis says the caller identified himself as the suspect in the shooting. Chavis said the caller also said he was in a vehicle stopped on Mount Gallant Road.

The York County Sheriff’s Office had deputies close by who located the suspect who has been identified as Nathan Thomas, 33 of Rock Hill. Thomas was taken into custody.

Chavis says Thomas was transferred to Rock Hill Police and taken to the Rock Hill Jail. He was issued warrants for Murder, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Grand Larceny Auto.

The Rock Hill Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Services Unit, and York County Coroner’s Office all responded to continue the investigation.

Thomas is set to have a bond hearing Thursday, March 25th at Rock Hill Municipal Court.
