The Nation Ford Lady Falcons holding their Lady Falcon Softball Camp recently. Many campers showed up for the fun! The camp was open to grades 4th – 9th and the campers had individual Instruction, small group drills, and learned new skills and techniques.
Announced this Thursday, Winthrop senior tennis player Lauren Proctor have been voted the Big South Conference Female Athlete of the Year for the 2018-19 season by the leagues Athletics Directors,
Proctor is the just the third back-to-back recipient of the conferences Female Athlete of the Year Award and fourth overall multiple winner.
She received 98 points and 13 first-place votes,
Proctor became just the fifth student-athlete in Big South Conference history to be voted Player of the Year all four years, and is the second women’s tennis player ever with that distinction.
She posted a 24-8 overall record in 2018-19 season, with a 20-3 match record during the spring at No. 1 singles — her fourth consecutive year with at least 20 victories. Proctor finished the season as the nation’s 62nd-ranked player, reached as high as No. 32 and had an average ranking of 49 during the campaign.

Four members of the Winthrop women’s golf team were named 2018-19 All-American Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.
Alexis Brindley, Chelsea Dantonio, Sarah Funderburg and Julie Reinertsen were among a little over one thousand women’s collegiate golfers to be recognized with this prestigious honor.
It was the fourth straight year that Dantonio and Reinertsen earned the recognition.
The criteria for selection as an All-American Scholar is some of the most stringent in all of collegiate athletics and requires a minimum GPA of 3.5.
Winthrop has had at least three members receive the honor each year since the 2011-12 season and at least one achieve the honor for the last 15 seasons.
