Man Charged with Murder After Saturday Night Shooting in Rock Hill

ROCK HILL, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) – Rock Hill Police say they are investigating a homicide that happened Saturday, September 25th and a person is behind bars, charged in the case.

Police say officers responded to an apartment in the 2400 block of Celanese Road for a shooting with a victim.

When officers arrived on scene they saw 27 year old Rayquan Steele of Rock Hill laying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Steele was transported by EMS to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment.

While officers were on scene they learned of another gunshot victim inside an apartment. When officers went inside they found a 22 year old male with one gunshot wound. Officials say he was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.

Police say the the Rock Hill Criminal Investigations Division responded and continued the investigation. Detectives found that Steele went to his child’s mother’s apartment to confront her and her current boyfriend.

Police say after an argument, Steele left the apartment but returned.

Another confrontation took place and police say Steele presented a gun and the male victim presented a firearm as well. Police say gunshots were exchanged resulting in the death of the male victim and the injuries to Steele.

Police say Steele was treated and arrested.

Rayquan Steele was charged with Murder, Domestic Violence 2nd Degree, and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, according to the release from police.
