Kershaw Community Builds A Park

KERSHAW, S.C. (CN2) – Kershaw’s community gathered to witness the ribbon cutting for the newest addition to Stevens park.
“I didn’t know this many kids lived in Kershaw,” said city Mayor Mark Dorman.
The park isn’t new, but the playground is. The old one had to be replaced, after the wood structure began to rot.
Beverly Timmons flag shipped this latest improvement effort with an almost $400,000 budget adding climbing, sliding, and more for children to enjoy.
“We built the fasauds of the original buildings that were in this community 100 years ago, 200 years ago,” stated Timmons.
Now Timmons’s grand daughter Macy Armburst can enjoy all of the parks amenities with her friends.
Armburst said, “It has a lot more climbing things, and there’s stuff where you can climb around, and stuff where you can run around, and there’s space, and there’s swings and a lot of other stuff.”
In less than 3 weeks organizers turned what they described as God’s plan into a reality, and it surpassed their expectations.
Mayor Dorman said, “That’s wonderful, that means the community has come together for a common cause. When that happens, this is a prime example of what comes about from everyone working together.”
As 4th grader Armburst swings through the obstacles she says she is thankful for the new playground.
“I love the playground and it’s a much better than last time,” Armburst continued.
and her mother says she’s thankful for the community members who made this happen
The latest addition is now kid tested, and parent approved.
