Going Pink: for breast cancer and women’s health

Piedmont Medical Center has gone pink – all to raise awareness for breast cancer and women’s health.
On Thursday Piedmont Medical Center hosted a free evening of education and fun for women as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Women of all ages with pink shirts and hair enjoyed appetizers, champagne and prizes.
The ladies heard from health professionals on a number of topics, including breast reconstruction surgery, radiology and treatment.
According to doctors 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer. That’s 13 percent of the female population.
That’s why they stress the importance of screenings, self-exams and mammograms but they also say it’s not something to be afraid of.
