Fort Mill House Struck By Lightning, Firefighters On The Scene

FORT MILL, S.C. — The overnight storms caused some chaos in Fort Mill.

A new construction home in the Massey community just near Doby’s Bridge Elementary went up into flames after neighbors say it may have been struck by lightning.

According to the Fort Mill Fire Marshal, they’re still using GPS and lightening strike data to determine if it was in fact lightning that caused the fire.

Firefighters from the Fort Mill Fire Department and other agencies, including Piedmont EMS, were on scene for a short time to control the fire.

They say there were no injuries and the home was vacant at the time of the incident.

We will share more information as it comes into our newsroom.
