Det. Mike Doty Tribute Car – Woodshed Racecars & Bodies

YORK, S.C. (CN2 TODAY) Behind the walls of Woodshed Racecars and Bodies in York is a creation Bubba Sutton and his team have been working on day and night to complete.

“You spend about 20 to 30 hours in the shop a week,” says owner Bubba Sutton.

One of Bubba’s favorite hobbies is race car driving and his dream has always been to build his own race car.

“I think everybody that gets into racing has somewhat of a childhood dream to build a racecar,” says Bubba.

But this car as a deeper meaning.

Along with driving Bubba is also a detention officer in York County. He says whenever he would see Detective Mike Doty who was sadly killed in the line of duty in 2018, Doty was kind.

“Any man to put his life on the line for his community, means a lot to me and I just wanted to pay tribute to him and his family and this is just my way of doing it,” says Bubba.

And now he wants to do his part to make sure Doty’s legacy lives  by building what he is calling the “Mike Doty Tribute car”.

“I didn’t do it for any type of profit.  To be sure of that all t-shirt sales will go to the 809 Foundation,” says Bubba.

Late nights and many hours making it all worth it to support a true hero who gave it all to protect his community.
