Businesses and Community of York Rally to Help Damaged York Business After Storm

ROCK HILL, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) – When it rains normally you seek shelter, but what happens when the waters follows you inside? Recently One York business found out the answer the hard way when a storm flooded their studio building.

J&K Paints and Pixels co-owner Joanna Reynolds says the water funneled down the back alley into their studio through the back door, reaching close to 5-inches of water.

The water didn’t stop at J&K Paints and Pixels, but flooded five other businesses on the same street as well.

The storm also caused a power outage, leaving the owners to clean in the dark for several hours. Joanna says she is lucky to have had so many people respond to her call for help in cleaning up the storm water.

Many friends came to her aid, including several employees from across the street at Wing King. Reynolds said, “We really want to thank all our friends and fellow business owners that helped and that offered to bring things, bring fans, shock vacs. We couldn’t have done it without them. and we are so grateful.”

Thanks to a quick response time and a lot of help, damage remained minimal at J&K Paints and Pixels, Joanna says she plans to meet with city officials to discuss a plan to fix the flooding problem on Main Street.
