12 Year Old Struck by Car While Attempting to Cross Rock Hill Road

ROCK HILL, S.C. (CN2 NEWS) – The Rock Hill Police is investigating a serious traffic accident after police say a 12 year old was struck by a vehicle when attempting to cross a busy road in Rock Hill Thursday evening.

Police were called to the intersection of Celanese Road and Riverview Road around 7:15 Thursday, January 5th for the accident involving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruz and the 12 year old pedestrian.

When officers arrived they located the juvenile in the roadway suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The 12 year old was transported to Piedmont Medical Center and later flown to Levine Children’s Hospital.

According to officials the driver of the vehicle showed no signs of impairment during the investigation and speed is not expected to be a factor, police say.

Officers also spoke to several witnesses on scene and learned the juvenile attempted to cross Celanese Road outside of the crosswalk before being struck by the vehicle which was traveling north on Celanese Road.

The accident is still under investigation and the condition of the juvenile was unknown this morning. CN2 News will update this story once we learn more.
