NOV 20, 2009: ROCK HILL, SC -- It is estimated 263,000 people are unemployed right now in the Palmetto State, but one Rock Hill woman who became one of those statistics is finding a way to still do more with less.
Travise Smith, aka 'The Coupon Mama,' says she can buy groceries without spending a dime.
"I can get a whole grocery cart of groceries, real groceries that you actually need, and not even spend five dollars," she said.
Smith says when it comes to spending money, less is always more!
"So many people now are losing homes, losing cars, losing everything, so it's all about setting up your lifestyle based on less than what you make and cutting coupons can do that for you," Smith said.
Today she visited Highland Park Senior Living to show residents how to save by clipping coupons.
"You really don't have it and you need it and all your bills are due, you just need to be trying to save every bit," Highland Park resident Sara Burkette said.
However, seniors are not the only ones benefiting.
"I'm addicted to it, it's like a game, when I get to the grocery store how much I can save," Highland Park site manager Carie Jackson said.
"You can either work overtime to pay for your groceries or sit in front of the TV, get your kids and cut coupons for an hour," Smith said.
