Sports Anchor/Reporter/Photographer ~ Full-Time

Responsible for keeping up to date on all the sports activities in the area. Search out stories, shoot, edit and produce the stories into a sports segment in the daily newscast. Responsible for anchoring the 3 minute sports segment during the newscast.

Reports to News Director/Anchor.

 

Duties:

Research sport stories and create schedule ahead of time to cover area sporting events.

Build contact relationships throughout our entire viewing area.

Covering sporting events include travel, carrying equipment and photography.

Writing and editing stories for daily sports segment of newscast.

Work as a team player on the news team.

Anchoring the sports segment of the newscast.

Public appearances.


Qualifications:

College degree in Journalism or Communications preferred.

Commercial TV station sports experience and internship required.

Must be a creative writer with sound news judgment and an understanding of what makes a good TV news story. Must have the ability to generate many story ideas. 

Must get along with others even under the pressures of working with time constraints.

Must have a strong understanding and knowledge of sports.

Exceptional organizational and time management skills required.

Must be a team player with a "can do" attitude who can deliver memorable local stories.

Good driving record required.
