Can you wrap a gift with just three pieces of tape?

Obviously Christmas is right around the corner and many of you – mainly us guys – will start wrapping your presents Christmas Eve. So I have a question for you – Can you wrap a gift using just three pieces of tape.

I watch the NBC sitcom “The Office” and in one episode Pam said you should use just three pieces of tape when it comes to gift wrapping.

I don’t know about you and I don’t think this is a gender issue, but I have never wrapped a gift using just three pieces of tape. I mean I use three pieces just on the top! Don’t even get me started on the sides. Man I bet you I go through – no lie – like seven pieces of tape on the ends. I can never get them to meet.

My wife can wrap very well and will do most of our presents (though I do kick in and help out!), but I’ve noticed even she has to use more than three pieces of tape. This year we are using more gift bags. This could be because of the odd shape of the gifts we are giving to our loved ones.

Whether you use three pieces of tape or like 50 it’s really the thought that counts. Now I know that is a little over the top, but really it’s nice to know that someone went through all of that effort just for you.

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas Shopping

So I've been thinking of my Christmas Shopping habits over the last few years and at the ripe old age of 25 my shopping tactics seem to have changed quite a bit! Previously I would buy anyone I remotely care about something for the holiday but this year my list has trimmed down quite a bit. I suppose I could blame it on the economy… that seems be a good scapegoat these days but the truth is I'm just not as into shopping as I used to be. I'm definitely not as materialistic as I was in my youth. I'd buy tons of fancy presents and often times not even feel the need to give the recipient a card. I'd spend unmentionable amounts of dough buying the man in my life expensive presents (luckily that won't be a problem this year). I did the bulk of my Christmas shopping last weekend and I bought gifts for only my closest loved ones: my Ma, Dad, twin brother, my cousins in New York and of course, my darling Basset Hound Josie. Don't be alarmed, I haven’t gone Scrooge this year, I bought awesome handmade Christmas stationary and I'll be giving heartfelt notes to the others in my life. Christmas over the last few years has been more about being with my family, it's kind of funny because when I was young I would eye the presents under the tree like a rabid wolf eyeing its prey... now all I want to do is eat Ma's incredible food (she makes Filet Mignon for Christmas!) and watch Kobe take on Lebron on the couch with my Twin. If you're wondering if I will get my dream Christmas this year...Yes, indeed I am! I'm flying home to be with my family on the 19th and I'll be back on air on the 28th. Have a wonderful holiday!

Trust Your Motherly Instincts

Okay, so my son has been sick for the past couple of days and instead of slowly getting better...he has just kept getting worse. Everyone kept telling me "oh it's just a cold he will get over it soon" but then his fever spiked Monday night to 103.9..so being a new mom I woke my husband up and we took him to Urgent Care. They really didn't do much..just said it was a cold and to give him plenty of fluids and let him rest. Well I just couldn't deal with that..I knew it was more. But then we faced the dilemma of insurance. My work ins has dropped his normal peditrician..and I was left with 3 to choose from...and the first 2 were full and wouldn't take him.. thankfully the 3rd one agreed (my begging and crying may have played a part).

So with that said I took Dillon to the Dr today and after hours of waiting and waiting in the lobby..they finally called us back and I told them what all was wrong. They did the typical stuff of temp, looking in his ears and listened to his chest and couldn't find anything wrong..so then they did some blood work and discovered that his white blood cell count was REALLY high...and that told them he was very sick...and then they ordered a chest x-ray which scared the heck out of me. BUT now we know what wrong with our baby boy..he has has pneumonia. I can't believe the first time he gets "sick" that it's this severe...I'm a nervous wreck and don't know what to do. But he now has some some antibiotics to get him feeling better. He goes back on Friday to see if he is making any progress. Please keep him in your prayers.

So with all of that being said.. I am so glad that I stuck with my instincts of knowing that there was something more going on. And it's always a good idea to take your children to the Dr..just in case. Especially when they can't tell what's wrong.

“First” Christmas and New traditions

Okay so isn’t technically my son’s first Christmas... but on the same hand it kinda is…

See last year he was only 2 months old and he really didn’t know what was going on... So this year will be my son’s first “real” Christmas!! I’m so excited I don’t know what to do. I want to buy him everything under the sun…I just don’t have the cash to do it with!

Haha every parents delima. But so far we’ve done pretty good...We got him a motorcycle... don’t worry it isn’t motorized! And lots of monster trucks and race cars to his delight! We also got him some Mega Blocks! So I think he will be pleased when he see’s what all Santa has brought him! Granted he will probably like the boxes more than the presents..but that’s ok. I can live with that!

I just can’t wait to see his face on Christmas morning with all the presents under the tree just for him! So... with all that being said we didn’t want to leave our house on Christmas day... and of course EVERYONE wants to see Dillon on Christmas Day...so we decided to have Christmas lunch at our house for the first time EVER!

I’m kinda nervous... considering I’m not the worlds best cook! AND our house isn’t all that big… not for all the people that are coming at least! Haha But it should still be fun..I just hope I can pull all the madness together!

Any tips for easy Christmas cooking?!? Haha I thought about just cooking something non-traditional but what I am good at…which is Spaghetti…but no one like that idea…they were all like “we gotta have turkey and ham on Christmas day!” Well thank goodness we get a free turkey or ham for our company Christmas present! So that takes care of that! Now just gotta figure out the rest…I will keep posted on the outcome!
